      Richard G. Fecteau, 76, of Winslow died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Maine General Medical Center, Thayer Campus, Waterville.
      He was born in Waterville, Jan. 28, 1935, the son of Omer and Fedora (Cabana) Fecteau.
      He graduated from Winslow High School and served in the Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed in Thule, Greenland, and Fort Belmoir, Va.
      He worked all his life as a carpenter for several contractors in this area and worked 17 years at the osteopathic hospital in the maintenance department, retiring in 1994 because of ill health.
      He was an altar boy and served Mass throughout grammar school, high school and even in the military. Dick was a quiet man; his home was his castle. He enjoyed his porch and loved watching the birds and making bird houses. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved wrestling and puttering in his shop. He loved animals, especially his four cats, Mon Amour, Mon Tresor, Belle Catin and Beau Pitoux.
      He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Carmen Latulippe, in 2006, Gloria Morrissette in 2008, and Ida Mae Veilleux in 2010; a nephew, James Morrissette, in 2010; and a niece, Pauline Kitchen.
      He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly Fecteau; and two nephews, Paul Morrissette and wife Joyce, and Bernard Latullippe, all of Winslow.
      Mrs. Fecteau would like to thank the following: his two best friends, Michael Lachance and Ronald Raymond; his primary care physician, Dr. Catherine Kimball and associates; Inland Hospital; Dr. Palumbo; Dr. McCarty; all the nurses in the emergency room who gave Dick good care and kindness; Dr. Vaughn Collett, who did his hip; Dr. Craig Thompson and office crew for their support; cousin Melissa Duval, who keeps tabs on us; at Thayer campus, Dr. Nuki, Dr. Brown and Dr. Hayes; Nora, R.N.; Penny, R.N.; Connie, N.A.; Jenny, N.A.; Chaplain Daniel Bartz; social worker, hospice care, Kathie; Veterans Affairs hospital, Togus, thanks for all the supplies and procedures and techniques you provided me to keep Dick at home and for the transportation - Michelle Rella, Giselle, Stephanie, Barbara Bickford, Darryl Hutchinson, S.W. especially Jeff Murch, R.N., Jill Carter, P.A., Mark Goodheart, S.W., Jane Bureau, O.P., Carol Owens, S.W., Home Base Primary Care at Togus, Jeff Murch and Jill Carter you were my guardian angels throughout all this ordeal; Lakewood - for the extremely good care and compassion you gave Dick and me - Joanne, R.N., Sharon, R.N., Sherri, Vickie, O.T., Christine, Lindsay, Robin, Tammy, P.T., Catrina, Korrine, S.W., Peggy, Melissa, S.W., Tanya, N.A., Leese, S.       A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Church, 25 Monument St., Winslow. Committal prayers and burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove St., Waterville.
