obituary - Davis Funeral Home (Nashua, NH)
David Wilder Brown born April 18, 1934 of Litchfield NH passed away in the early hours of December 12, 2010 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
David spent the majority of his life in Hudson. Pre-deceased by his parents Harold and Lillian (Fecteau) Brown, his brother Duane Brown, his loving wife Jeanne (Morin) Brown to whom he was married for 43 years, and their daughter Jeanne Marie Brown.
He leaves behind a son Mark Brown and his wife Cecile of Deering, NH, a daughter Diane Holt of Hudson, former son-in-law Richard Holt of Hudson, step-grandson Ricky Holt of Barnstead, grand-daughter Sarah Holt, grandson Seth Holt, both of Hudson, his brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Shirley Brown of Contoocook, a niece and her husband Judy and Richard Gilbert of Abbot Maine, a nephew and his wife Bruce and Stephanie Brown of Layton Utah, a nephew Douglas Brown, Jr. and his partner Joe Depont of Boston, MA, a nephew Stephen Brown of Contoocook NH, numerous cousins, grand-nephews and grandnieces and three great-grandsons.
David attended Hudson schools and was a member of the first graduating class (Alvirne Class of 1953) to have completed all 12 years of education entirely in Hudson Schools. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he was a radio operator and was the unofficial platoon photographer.
He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many weekends with his family at their camp in Francestown, NH – fishing in the summer or snowmobiling in the winter. He was a member and past President of the Pleasant Pond Snowmobile Club. David enjoyed camping in Rangeley, Maine and Lake Carmi, Vermont and hiking throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
By far, David was most proud of his long association with the Boy Scouts of America. He was Scout Leader of Troop 252 for many, many years achieving numerous awards for his dedicated service. He traveled to The Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico twice, was a member of the Order of the Arrow organization within the Scouting world and received the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for his efforts as a leader and advisor.
David was the President of Brown’s Sheet Metal in Nashua from 1966 until he retired in 1999.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America, 571 Holt Avenue, Manchester, NH 03109.
Interment Prayers and Military Honors will follow at Hills Farms Cemetery in Hudson.
Visiting Hours will be held from Friday, December 17, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock Street, Nashua.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 18, 2010, 10am, at Blessed John XXIII Parish at St. John the Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson. Family and Friends are invited to attend.
