Laconia —– Shirley L (Gay) Cass, 82 of Edwards Street died Wednesday October 7, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health. Shirley was born November 18, 1932 in Laconia, NH, the daughter of the late Maurice and Gladys (Abbott) Gay. Shirley worked for the New England Telephone Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1997. After her retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at Whittemore’s Flower Shop, were she loved making someone’s day with a fresh bouquet. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her camp in Kennebunk, ME. In addition, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts and planting beautiful flowers at her home. She looked forward to the Christmas Holiday in decorating her home for the Edwards Street Christmas Lights. Shirley is survived by her sons, Dennis Cass and his wife Renee of Hendersonville, TN, David Cass and his partner Leo Moyen of Providence, RI, daughters, Gay Ferland and her partner Bob Fitzpatrick of Belmont NH, Brenda Frink and her husband Andrew of Surry, NH, and Tammy Thomas of Spartanburg, SC. She is also survived by her former husband Rodney Cass and his wife Pat along with 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Season, Michelle, Taylor, Grady, David, Amanda and 4 great grandchildren as well as a niece and several nephews and many good friends. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son Stephen Cass and her sister Doris Fecteau. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 16, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Wilkinson-Simoneau- Beane-Paquette Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Andre Bessette Parish – St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia. Burial will take place at a later date in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield St., Laconia, NH In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NH Humane Society, 1305 Meredith Center Rd.
