Facteau, Oregon State University horticulturist, will present results of cherry research at the 67th annual meeting of the American Society for Horticultural Science Nov. 14 in Miami Beach. Facteau's paper will discuss the effects of hydrogen fluoride on respiration, organic acids and protein and amino nitrogen on Royal Ann and Bing sweet cherry leaves. Co-author is Dr. Shiow-ying Wang, horticulturist at OSU's Mid-Columbia Experiment Station staff at Hood River. obituary - Hood River News (OR) - 29 Dec 2005 Timothy Joseph Facteau passed away on Dec. 22, 2005, at the age of 65 at Providence Portland Hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1940, in Tupper Lake, N.Y., to Frank and Kathryn Facteau. He moved to New Jersey as a child and grew up on a farm. Tim received his Bachelor of Science. and Master of Science at Rutgers University and his Ph.D. at the University of Florida. He and his wife, Alice, were married in June 1963, and had two children, Donald and Elaine. Upon graduation from University of Florida in December 1967, the family moved to Hood River where Tim was employed by Oregon State University at the Mid-Columbia Research and Experiment Station to do research on sweet cherries. Tim was well respected for his knowledge and willingness to try new ideas. Although he retired in 2000, Tim was still quite active and interested in the cherry industry. Tim and Alice greatly enjoyed traveling and visited many interesting places throughout the world. He was an avid reader and tennis player. He also enjoyed building model boats and doing things with Alice and his family. Tim is survived by Alice, his wife of 43 years; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kathleen Facteau of Forest Grove, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Christopher Walker of Odell, Ore.; sister, Nancy Facteau of Hood River and grandchildren, Samantha Facteau, Kameron and Cody Walker. A memorial service is planned for early next year.
