    • The property owned by Ernest straddled the US-Canadian border.

      There is a very interesting account of the arrest of Ernest by Canadian police officials on his US property and his being transferred into Canada. In this article, we discover that Ernest was arrested for assault with attempt to murder; he was found guilty of assault [31 Oct 1946, Sweetsburg, QC) and condemned to 59 days in prison, but in view of the fact that he had already spent this time in jail he was released. The article includes affidavits by various people, including his mother Victoria (Charron) Fecteau..
