KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- John W. Facto, 71, suddenly went home to be with the Lord, with his family surrounding him, on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Born in Troy, son of Agnes Bailey Ritrovato of Florida and the late Thomas Facto and stepson of the late John Ritrovato. He was a graduate of Heatly High School in Green Island and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the late 1960s. John resided in Troy for many years, moving to Florida in 2000. He had been employed as a diesel mechanic by Ryder Truck Rental in Menands for 25 years, retiring in 1992. John's world revolved around his children and grandchildren, who brought great love and joy into his life. A very proud American, he belonged to many organizations in both New York and Florida, including the American Legion, VFW and the Eagle's Club. He was also a former member of the Emerald Club in Troy. In addition to his mother, Agnes, he is survived by his children, Robert (Tricia) Facto of Troy, Jonilyn (George) Morales of Florida, Suzanne King of Syracuse, Nicole ((Luis) Sanchez of Virginia and Alisa (Joseph) Reale of Watervliet; his siblings, Thomas (Sharon) Facto and Donna (Paul) Carl, both of Florida. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren. Due to Holy Week observances, funeral services will be held at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Ave., Green Island on Friday at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill. Calling hours will be on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Because of John's devotion to Veterans and our Country, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to any Veteran's organization in support of the men and women that have served in the United States Military.
