TROY -- Shirley A. Walkinshaw Daubney, 82, of Troy, died August 30, 2010 at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Walkinshaw and the wife of the late Joseph J. Daubney.
She was a 1945 graduate of Catholic Central High School and had been employed at Cluett Peabody, Denbys and retired from Samaritan Hospital after working at the switchboard and in the medical records department. She had continued her service at Samaritan Hospital through her work as a volunteer. In Shirley's younger years, she sang at events during her four years at Catholic High, with the K of C Frolics, and at weddings and local shows. Shirley was a member of AARP, ICC and AARP Bocci. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis de Sales Church, was devoted to her family and loved to travel with family and friends.
She is survived by six children, Joseph Daubney of Miami, Fla., Sharon (Tom) Facto of Citrus Springs, Fla., Edward (Betsy) Daubney of Holliston, Mass., Richard Daubney of Tampa, Fla., Nancy (Scott) Harris of Wynant-skill and Patricia (Paul) Dula of Saganaw, Texas; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Janet Ratigan; a dear friend, John McDonough; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jane Keenan.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
The funeral will be on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy and at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.
