St. Johnsville -- Four persons, arrested between this village and Fort Plain by Sergt. John W. Brockman of the East Herkimer patrol of the state police, on charges of passing counterfeit $5 bills, pleaded not guilty before U.S. Commissioner Hampton in Utica. Unable to give $2,000 bail, they were sent to Utica jail to await an examination. news article - Gloversville Morning Herald (NY) - 17 Aug 1933
Two of the four persons arrested recently on charges of passing counterfeit money through the valley were discharged after hearings before U. S. Commissioner Hampton in Utica Monday. Miss Anne Nashton, 19, of Utica, the only female member of the quartet, and William Centro, 29, of Rome, were freed because of lack of evidence against them, while George Cuddy, 18, of Baltimore, and William Hubbard, 21 year old Pennsylvania, were held for the September term of federal court at Ogdensburg. Among the witnesses at the hearing was Lester Green, East Creek gas station proprietor, on whom a bogus $5 bill was passed.

LYONS --  Two pleas of guilty were heard by Seneca County Judge Jerome B. E. Wolfee, in Wayne County Court yesterday.
Both Anice Patricia Centro and William Junior Centro pleaded guilty to third degree burglary and first degree grand larceny.
Sentencing will be at 10a.m., June 1, by Judge Wolff.
Two indictments for each had been presented by the February grand jury. Both were indicted for two counts of third degree burglary and two counts of first degree grand larceny in the second indictment.
Public Defender Thomas Gilmore presented a motion to consolidate the two indictments on each defendant. It was concurred by District Attorney Reginald Oliver; and the additional counts of their indictments were dismissed.
Anice Centro, 52, and William Centro, 40, both of Sodus Point, were accused of entering and taking antiques from the residence of Martha Bahr in Palmyra and from Baco Inc. of Sodus Point.
